Reading Order Note On The College Girl Spin-off

1/3/2016

Comments

I hope everyone had a Happy New Year! I'll be back in the saddle this coming week to finish up the last bit of the College Girl spin-off. (Click here to see the cover!) Note that I am calling it a spin-off and not a sequel. The events take place roughly three years after College Girl ends.

My best advice for anyone looking to get the entire story is to read College Girl first, then the spin-off. That said, you can read the spin-off on its own, but I wouldn't recommend reading the spin-off first and then College Girl because the spin-off does revisit Ryan Bennett and Alex Reed's story toward the very end -- in other words: SPOILERS. ;-)

Again, College Girl and its spin-off have been written for and are intended for those 18+ who are not sensitive to explicit scenes, profanity, violence, etc. You've been warned!

After finishing the spin-off, I will be going back to the project I've been working on/re-writing and re-writing again. This project is like my drawing board. Maybe I'll finish this time; maybe I'll be inspired to work on another project. The first chapter is featured on the Extras section of this website. It's my return to paranormal romance, so cross your fingers!

Happy New Year!

College Girl Spin-off Cover Is HERE!

For those who are fans of College Girl, there was definitely a love-him-and-hate-him character. James McDevitt was the devil's advocate/villain who just made life difficult for hero and heroine Ryan Bennett and Alex Reed. Well, quite a while after I finished College Girl, I found myself wondering how James McDevitt would handle a curveball in his own life. And voila. A College Girl spin-off was born. I am currently *so* close to finishing the first draft of his story. In the meantime, his cover shot is here. (Click Read More.)

I'll be back soon with more news and teasers, so stay tuned!

On A Long Hiatus from the Paranormal

11/28/2015

For me, paranormal romance was where it all started. The first book I ever finished was Aven's Dream, which started under a different title. That book later was split into The Darkly Dreaming Series -- From a Dream, Love Me Darkly, and Dreaming Ever After -- a series which has a special place in my heart. Overall, I love the mystery behind paranormal romance, and for me a hero with paranormal origins is just that much more ... tempting. After that came The Ever Series, which ended up being published first -- but that's a long story.

Recently, I've branched out into more, ahem, adult and less paranormal territory.

And that's where I've been lately. One book is in final edits and, sad to say, is not going to come out under my name. The other is a spin-off very specifically targeted to fans of College Girl, which is one of my books that definitely falls under the love it or leave it category. Or maybe that pertains to all of them ;-)

So that's what I've been up to. Furiously writing one book, waiting on my editor for another in hopes of getting it out by the end of the year -- which is rapidly approaching!

Since I've promised not to spam anyone with e-mails (we all get enough e-mail already!), I have a favor to ask. Anyone who would like to know when the College Girl spin-off comes out (because I may discount it prior to release!), please e-mail me at cjvalles4ever (at) gmail (dot) com with the subject College Girl spin-off and your preferred e-mail address. I don't want to accidentally e-mail anyone who is purely a fan of The Ever Series!

My other upcoming book is, let us say, for those like me who have an incredibly twisted sense of humor. It's dark. It's weird. It's my passion project. If anyone is interested (and really good at keeping secrets), send an e-mail to cjvalles4ever (at) gmail (dot) com with the subject Super Secret Project and your preferred e-mail address. Remember, said project is NOT YA, NOT for sensitive audiences, and NOT a linear storyline. Reader beware. You get the point.

On that note, I've had a paranormal romance brewing on the back burner, but it's going to take some time to get
back to it. I'm operating on the basis of which story currently causes my fingers to fly over the keyboard and which heroes make my pulse race.

Finally, it seems as though it's been a tumultuous time everywhere you look, and I truly hope everyone is happy, healthy, and safe at this time of year. Well wishes to all! I'll be back. And fans of College Girl -- keep an eye out for teasers. They will be coming shortly!

Working behind the Scenes

8/19/2015

Comments

I've been a bit busy working on stuff "behind the scenes," so to speak. I've been finalizing a book that will definitely need to go under a pen name, and I've just started a spin-off to one of my already published books.

Oh, and what was originally Aven's Dream has undergone some revisions and been re-published as The Darkly Dreaming Series, each part only $0.99. The first part, From a Dream, is free today on Amazon. Check it out if you haven't read Aven's Dream!

Last but not least, my mom (who is also an author!) was just featured in an online interview about her books (top of the page right now -- Corie Skolnick). Way to go, Mom! Her first novel, ORFAN, is family life/historical fiction; the most recent, America's Most Eligible, is humor/satire. In general, her stuff is waaaaay different than mine, but I read (and write) in all kinds of genres -- so you never know!

I'll be back when I have some news ... or just to babble incoherently into cyberspace. ;-)

This Made Me Cry

6/22/2015

I honestly can't explain why, but it caused big, ugly tears. ... I think it's the video as much as the music. It just wrecked me. In other news, I've moved, and I am loving the new place. I'll share a pic of the view when I get around to uploading some photos. Really, the fact that I can see sunsets like this from my house just blows my mind. I am (slowly) getting back into the writing thing. Keyword here: slowly. I just binge-watched the last few episodes of Season 1 of iZombie -- hence the music in this post. iZombie kinda fills the void left by Veronica Mars, and more recently Arrow.

My editor's been dragging his feet on my latest and greatest. He'd freak if I said that straight to his face. ;-)  But don't worry. This particular book is only meant for a thin slice of the population who can take me at full volume. Believe me: it is neither pretty nor polite. It is full-on b*tch. You have been warned.

I leave you this ...
