Here goes nothing!

So ... I think I've accomplished one thing this week as far as MailChimp goes. To the left of this blog post, you will see a brand new newsletter subscription form. It's there, right? It's not just my imagination? ;-)

If I was successful, then you should be able to sign up for my newsletter -- and about a day later, you should receive a welcome e-mail and a copy of The Darkly Dreaming Series!

I've spent the past week and a half wrestling with MailChimp, so I make no promises. Sign up for the newsletter and let me know if you get a copy of Darkly Dreaming Forever (The Darkly Dreaming Series as a single 450-page-plus document)!

Next to-do on my list: publish Unremarkable! I was tentatively planning to publish on Tuesday, Nov. 7 -- then I realized that's Election Day. Whoops. The date did seem like a lucky number, though.

11/7/17 ... what do you think?

I'll be back with news soon!

Happy All Hallows' Eve!

Happy dance! The print and ebook versions of Unremarkable (The Potential Future Chronicles, Book One) are done!

Vellum Press is totally worth it. The program (not to mention the awesome tech support) really makes formatting the interior of a novel very painless. I ran into two issues, which were related to my own ignorance/tech-phobia, and Brad from Vellum Support was able to answer both questions in under 24 hours.

On that note, I've also been in the process of trying to get my newsletter together through MailChimp. Uh, yeah. That's not going as smoothly. At every stage, I stop and go, "Huh?" What seems to be easy for most people is head-scratchingly frustrating for this girl. So, that's gonna take some time.

What do you do when you're working on a project that's epically frustrating? Personally, I go back to my very first project. As in, the very first book I ever wrote, also known as The Darkly Dreaming Series. I've gone back and re-read or tweaked that story so many times, I've lost count. I started going through it again last night and thought, "I love this story!" It's just the perfect little paranormal romance. It actually competes with For Ever -- and in some ways I love it a little more, simply because it was the very first novel I ever finished. I had the best time the summer I wrote it. My playlist was epic!

So last night, I uploaded The Darkly Dreaming Series to Vellum -- and I redesigned the cover. If you haven't checked it out, it's the perfect little Halloween treat! With any luck, the updated content should upload in a few hours. Fingers crossed!

I was thinking about publishing Unremarkable today, but I think I need one more weekend of breathing deeply into a paper bag before I'm ready. ;-)

Unremarkable's New Cover!

This week has been crazy! I've been working with a designer on Fiverr to design a new cover for Unremarkable -- and she came up with three really great mock-ups. In the end, I had to choose one, which was tough!

Also, a paperback copy will be available for purchase on Amazon! For people like me who like to have an e-reader copy and a paperback to underline, highlight, and dog-ear ... like the days of yore!

In other news, I will be setting up an e-mail newsletter in the coming weeks to announce special promotions and giveaways ... more on that soon!

Plus, I'm already working on ideas for the cover of book two of The Potential Future Chronicles.

Now, without further ado, here's the new cover design!

Here's the latest and greatest ... Right now, I'm having my cover for Unremarkable redesigned, and I should have a draft by tonight. Fingers crossed that it's spectacular. If not, I may stick with my original design. We'll see.

After that, I should have the book published on Amazon very shortly!

Finally, I may look at a cover redesign for the second book, The Potential Future, which will be coming out soon after the first book! Stay tuned for news on that!

Good news and bad news

Well, I just got my rejection letter from Kindle Scout. They will not be publishing Unremarkable. However, their publishing process takes something like three months. In all likelihood, I will be publishing waaaaaaay sooner now that I'm back in control (Mwwwwwaaaa ha ha ha ha!) of my destiny -- so there's that!

The whole process was a lot of fun, if very opaque. There's very little way to tell who's going to get the winning lottery ticket, so to speak. I saw a lot of really great books get passed over -- and many of those authors have gone on to have really great releases.

Thank you to everyone who nominated Unremarkable! You have the option of being notified by Kindle Scout as soon as I publish -- or you can check back here for updates and random musical gems. ;-)

As the Terminator said, "I'll be back ..."

I'm still waiting to hear back on Unremarkable's Kindle Scout campaign. The good news is that if the book gets a "no" from Kindle Scout, it'll come out much sooner -- so there's that!

Stay tuned!

Wow! The last 30 days have (sort of) flown by. Not really! I've been super distracted, but now that Unremarkable's Kindle Scout campaign is almost over the good news is: I just had an awesome day working on the third book of The Potential Future Chronicles (Unremarkable is book 1 of the series)!

Now for some mood music! Enjoy!

If you haven't had a chance to check out the first few chapters of Unremarkable and nominate the book, now's the time! Just three days left of the Kindle Scout campaign. If you've already nominated the  book, in the next few weeks you'll either receive an e-mail from Kindle Scout saying the book was selected -- and you'll get your free copy before it's released ... or you'll get an e-mail saying the book wasn't selected, and you will be notified when I publish on Amazon (unless you opt out of being notified).

Click here to nominate Unremarkable on Kindle Scout!

If you want to stay up-to-date on upcoming releases, potential giveaways, free days, etc., then make sure to sign up for my e-mail list on the main page. (I almost never send out e-mails, so the blog is the best place to random snippets of entertainment!) For anyone who has already signed up for the email list, if you want to be removed or if you need to update your email address, use the contact form at the bottom of the About C. J. page to contact me.

Again, a word of warning: Unremarkable is not YA. The series contains profanity, violence, and sexual content.
