Long story short: I've been working on a beast of a dystopian/sci-fi/romance/adventure novel for the past year and a half -- and I'm almost done. This thing is over 450 pages long (in Amazon Kindle pages) ... in paperback pages, that's closer to 550 pages long. It ... is ... EPIC. And it's totally not for the faint of heart.
I'm going to have more updates for those still hanging in there with me. Stay tuned for cover updates and teasers. Remember, this one's rated R, not PG-13! Big hugs! CJ So I kinda disappeared off the face of the Earth for a while there (again). That tends to happen after I publish a book, for better or worse. After publishing the College Girl spin-off (James) in June (and another book in May, which was published under a pen name), I decided to go back to my roots of paranormal-ish romance. That said, I've been in a weird space, floating in and out of a project that I've come to love dearly, but I've had to take several breaks from it since I started it in February of this year. (Pssst: Right now, the first several unedited, rough chapters are up on Wattpad under the user name CJValles. You can find it here: ) WARNING: The story up on Wattpad contains profanity and violence (and potential sexual content) to a degree that it is not appropriate for younger/sensitive readers.
While I'm looking forward to publishing that story, the book market has changed a lot since I first published For Ever in February of 2012. It's a lot harder to gain traction as an indie, and the market is pretty saturated in most genres I publish in. I know I will continue writing as long as I'm able, but I have to find a new lodestar to guide me. I want to go back to why I really started writing, which is simple: I wanted to write stories that meant something to me. That means not trying to figure out what is going to sell and not worrying if someone out there might be offended. My stories all contain copious disclaimers when they contain potentially objectionable content -- and as a general rule, my characters are misfits. If you're brave and enjoy dystopian themed stories, then check out Unremarkable on Wattpad. ... Or wait until it's published in its entirety! Until next time! And last but not least, The Darkly Dreaming Series has it's own #AmazonGiveaway! If you haven't read it yet, enter to win here: https://giveaway.amazon.com/p/7629537a2f83d58c
Good luck! I've said it a million times, but I'll say it again for good measure: James, the College Girl spin-off, is not for sensitive readers or those under the age of 18! That said, I'm giving away two copies in an Amazon Giveaway, which ends midnight Pacific Standard Time tomorrow (June 20).
Click the link to enter and be mindful of the disclaimer (this title contains content that will be offensive to some readers): https://giveaway.amazon.com/p/e7d0fdf8afbc5c8a There's one more copy left of The Ever Series Boxed Set up for grabs in an #AmazonGiveaway!
Click on the link to enter: https://giveaway.amazon.com/p/457695b2c0ebec59 Have you read College Girl? Because that's where it all begins. (FYI: you can read either book as a standalone, but the characters from College Girl do make a cameo in James!) Click below to buy on Amazon (or read free with Kindle Unlimited)!
IMPORTANT NOTE: both books are 18+ and in NO way suitable for sensitive readers (they contain graphic profanity and explicitly sexual content). James is live in the UK! Woo hoo! Now waiting for Amazon.com and other markets. Tapping foot again.
It's alive ... in less than 12 hours, I hope! Rest assured that I will be sitting awake as the clock turns to midnight, waiting for the College Girl spin-off to be released -- finally!
Please get in touch and let me know your favorite parts. (I definitely have my favorites, but I won't spoil them for you!) Oh! And let me know if you think there are any characters deserving of their own stories! Did I mention that I hate waiting? I literally can't wait for James (18+, not for sensitive readers) to come out. It just has so many elements I'm excited about! Number one -- James! I'm a huge fan of taking characters who you think you can't possibly like and turning them into real human beings (or inter-dimensional immortals) who you can really empathize with.
